Terms of Service
1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using Transcriptica (transcriptica.com), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use our services. These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Transcriptica Inc., a corporation registered in Ontario, Canada.
2. Description of Service
Transcriptica is an AI-powered transcription and content transformation platform. We provide:
- Video and audio transcription (via URL or file upload)
- AI-generated content outputs (summaries, blog posts, social media content, meeting minutes, study notes, and more)
- A Chrome browser extension for capturing web content
- Content organization and library management
Our AI features use large language models which may produce inaccurate, incomplete, or biased outputs. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying all AI-generated content before use.
3. Account Registration
- You must provide accurate, complete information when creating an account.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
- You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized account access.
- One person per account — sharing accounts is not permitted.
- You must be at least 13 years old to use our service.
4. Subscription Plans and Payments
We offer Free, Pro ($16.99/month), and Power ($34.99/month) plans with annual billing at 20% discount. Paid plans are billed through Stripe. AI features use a credit-based system. Free tier includes limited transcripts and credits. Details are available at /pricing.
- Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled before the renewal date.
- Credits reset monthly; purchased credit packs never expire.
- No refunds for partial billing periods or used credits.
- We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days notice to existing subscribers.
5. Content Ownership and Intellectual Property
Your Content
You retain all ownership rights to content you upload or submit (audio, video, URLs). You grant us a limited license to process your content solely to provide our services.
AI-Generated Outputs
AI outputs generated from your content (summaries, blog posts, etc.) are licensed to you for your use. You are responsible for how you use these outputs.
Our Platform
The Transcriptica platform, including its design, code, features, and branding, is our intellectual property protected by copyright and trademark law.
Pack Pages
If you create a public Pack Page, the viewable content is accessible to anyone with the link. You control what is made public.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree NOT to:
- Upload content you do not have the right to use
- Use the service for illegal purposes
- Attempt to circumvent usage limits, rate limits, or security measures
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the platform
- Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the service without permission
- Harass, abuse, or harm other users
- Distribute malware or harmful code through our platform
- Resell or redistribute the service without authorization
- Upload content that contains illegal material, hate speech, or content exploiting minors
7. Service Availability and Limitations
- We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service.
- Transcription accuracy depends on audio quality, language, and other factors.
- AI outputs are generated by machine learning models and may contain errors.
- We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features with reasonable notice.
- We are not liable for content or data loss — you are responsible for maintaining your own backups.
8. Termination
By you
You may cancel your subscription and delete your account at any time through your account settings or by contacting support@transcriptica.com.
By us
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms, engage in abusive or fraudulent activity, fail to pay for paid services, or if required by law. We will provide notice when reasonably possible.
Upon termination
Your right to use the service ceases. We will delete your data within 30 days unless retention is required by law.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- Transcriptica shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.
- Our total liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
- We are not liable for losses caused by: AI output inaccuracy, service interruptions, third-party service failures, or unauthorized access to your account due to your negligence.
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Transcriptica Inc., its officers, and employees from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:
- Your use of the service
- Your violation of these terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights
- Content you upload or submit
11. Dispute Resolution
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada. Any disputes shall be resolved through the courts of Ontario, Canada. Before filing a legal claim, you agree to attempt to resolve the dispute informally by contacting support@transcriptica.com.
12. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
